My name is MaKayla Potts, and I am so happy you are here! Ever since I could write, I have been OBSESSED with stationery. I was the student who wrote everything my teacher both said and wrote on the board. Fast forward to 2021, when I switched my major to graphic design.

Unfortunately, before I walked the stage in May 2024, my mother passed away in November 2023. That threw my life off center for a while. However! I was blessed with my 1st child, a son, in November 2024. It was because of him and my mother that I believed it was time to use my degree how I wanted to. I spent plenty of time with my newborn baby boy designing a planner that was perfect for me. It was a great time because clearly I was not sleeping.

Why is my business just now launching in 2026?

Well, all good things take time! As well as research, dedication, and if I'm being honest, besides losing my mom unexpectedly in 2023, 2025 was pretty rough on me. Made by Janem is special to me because it is named after my mother, my sister, and me. My mom would refer to my sister Janae and me as 'J and nem,' which was always funny because she would rather say nem instead of MaKayla, or her nickname for me, CoCo.

So this one is for you, Mom! Nem has finally launched a business and is putting this expensive piece of paper to work. If you have made it this far into the story of me and my business, I am eternally grateful. I hope it was a tiny bit inspirational, or at least something to help you pass the time. Either way, I thank you!
